Default What an Ant colony looks like

This is amazing, I was stunned to see how intelligent ants really are.

I don't! Just imagine; crazy scientist-people might come by at any time and pour cement down into your city killing your entire civilization.

Truly amazing though!

While the discovery itself is amazing, the method by which it was done was heartless. It's equivalent of killing a living human being just to see what's inside of him.

Cool video though. Keep up on destroying civilizations and using "it's only ants" excuse while saying they're amazing at the same time.

EDIT:
Nvm, apparently they say it was mostly abandoned.

FYI, there's a small domain in Computer Science, part of Artificial Intelligence, that is trying to use the way ants work in order to define "intelligent" computer systems.

They also inspired various techniques for solving problems:

It definitely challenges the preconceived notions of "intelligence".

Whether it be transistors in a cpu, neurons in a mammalian brain, or a whole heap of ants: it goes to show many small brains do make one big one.

Good stuff! (especially if you're a biology teacher (guilty))

And yes: hymenoptera (will) rule!
